Call for Artists: 2025 Summer Art Show
The Forney Arts Council (FAC) is now accepting entries for participation in the 2025 Summer Art Show!
Art Show Theme: The Summer Art show will explore the theme of travel. For hundreds of years people have left their daily lives and sojourned to distant places for leisure. What motivates someone to leave their normal routine and environment can vary from the desire for personal enrichment, to make memories with family and friends, to seeing with our own eyes a breathtaking landscape or landmark. Traveling is a personal decision that can be filled with anticipation and excitement for the experience to come and yet also apprehension and uncertainty in forging ahead to an unknown place filled with unfamiliar sights and sounds. Overall the art show aims to invite visitors into the travel journeys of participating artists, discover what compelled them to break from their usual lives, learn what the experience meant to them and have the opportunity to also view the place and time captured by the artists in their chosen artworks.
Art Show Event Hours: Monday, June 9, 2025 - Monday, July 7, 2025
Artist Opening Reception: Tuesday, June 10, 2025 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Location: “The Gallery” located inside the Forney ISD Opportunity Central Facility at 680 Innovation Blvd, Forney, TX 75126.
How to Apply: Visual artists in the Forney area and greater North Texas are eligible to participate. Please fill out the FAC Art Show Entry Application and submit by Friday, April 25, 2025. All applications will be reviewed and approved or denied the week of April 28, 2025. Space is limited and the visual arts committee reserves the right to choose the best artists suited for this art show. You will be notified via email of your application status. Accepted applicants will have 5 business days to reply back confirming their participation in the art show.
Application Fee: None
# of Entries Accepted: Artists are welcome to submit 1-3 artworks.
Mediums Accepted: All drawing and painting mediums, mixed media, fiber arts, photography art, digital art, illustrations, small-scale sculptures.
Art Dimensions / Framing: Canvas art should be no larger than 24 x 30 inches. Art sculptures must be less than 12 inches tall. Art must be framed or canvas painted on the edges; no staples may show (may be taped/painted). Art and frame must be in good condition. Art must be able to be strung with wire (sawtooth is acceptable) or otherwise be ready and suitable for hanging with the hanging system. Artists are requested to create and bring their own labels, to be taped on the back bottom corner of the frame while on display. Please include the name of the artist, title, medium, and date. Artists are welcome to include a brief description of the artwork, artist statement and QR code for purchase information if applicable.
Art Quality: All artwork must be original. Art must be family-friendly and without nudity as the Opportunity Central is a facility of the Forney Independent School District. Committee may reject the display of some artwork for any reason and at its discretion.
Sales: FAC will NOT be taking a commission on artwork sales and neither the location nor FAC will make sales or collect money. If the artist chooses to make art available for sale, they must include their contact information/website/link/QR code with clear instructions to handle their own sales. Generally, art is to remain until the end of the show, but if the buyer would like the art immediately, be prepared to replace the art with another work.
Art Delivery and Pickup: Artist or artist’s representative must deliver the artwork to the location at the designated date and time. On closing date, the artist or representative must pick up artwork or make arrangements no later than 72 hours in advance for FAC to take down on their behalf and store the work until the artist can pick it up. FAC takes no responsibility for the art.

Artist Tear Down Date: Monday, July 7, 2025
